Peter Pan and Repetory 08

Well the 07-08 season is offically over. We performed out last shows last Saturday and it was amazing. One night the dance studio at the theatre was occupied and so was the stage so we ended up warming up on the balcony entrance railings. I wish I'd of gotten some more pictures of it because I bet it looked really funny from down below. Friday night we started with the Repetory program. We did "All souls night", the modern piece by Gregory Hancock; then "Swing", the WWII piece; "Palladio" and… Continue

SBT Promotion for Peter Pan

Yesterday afternoon we got a call about, oh jee must of been 3:30, that we would be taking pictures for one of the local newspapers that evening after classes. Almost all of us ended up dressing up as something we aren't in the show, I think Heather, Allie and I were the only ones in our real costumes. It was so much fun and before it we crashed the intermediate modern class and danced Dawn's version of "Wade" In our peter pan costumes. Unfortunately I didn't get a video of that but I have other… Continue

As the 07-08 season draws to a close...

This week is our last full week of classes for the offical dance year. Next week we are going to be devoted to dress rehersals and performances of our Peter Pan and Repetory program. Of course we still have mandatory classes over the summer so we will be seeing eachother often but we were all a little melancholy about it until Erica arrived. Last night our teacher, Erica, forgot her dance bag. She had absolutley nothing to teach/take class in so I ended up lending her my jazz pants and ballet s… Continue

Understanding you, the dancer

So today I was driving through downtown Seattle and I saw a man who appeared to be homeless or at least close to becoming homeless. I was stopped at a red light and he caught my attention right away. He was in the middle of a small park under a statue of Chief Seattle and he was dancing, sort of. What I mean is that he was going through some sort of ritualistic movement that he was seemingly making up. Much of it looked like bad martial arts, coupled with an intense stage presence—even if the st… Continue
